God made the Sabbath holy and gave it to all of us as a gift. He invites us to lay aside our work and worries, to trust that because He is in control, we’re free to rest and worship.
Sunday is Flag Day, and our church is using the day to begin an exploration of government. Our nation celebrates its 250th Anniversary in July, and we Christians need to know how to think about our nation and our responsibility to it. We start with a multi-week exploration of government. What comes to your mind when you hear the word government? Do you think of the white house, do you think of the Pentagon, or the courthouse? Government is about ruling over something. Some things are not the responsibility of police forces or state legislators. We are responsible for self-government. On Sunday, we explore the book of Genesis as we consider the necessity of self-government.
